V-SCI published in the Union of Concerned Scientists “The Equation”

Check out our post on the Union of Concerned Scientists blog The Equation! In this article we walk through the history of Team Mountain Valley Pipeline and their experiences reviewing the problematic methods employed by Equitrans Midstream that led to severe erosion and sedimentation along the pipeline pathway.

Through a partnership with Wild Virginia and their broader network of advocates, members of V-SCI were able to provide data analysis that was used in a lawsuit brought against the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP). This resulted in a ruling by the Fourth Circuit US Court of Appeals that stripped MVP of critical construction permits in 2022.

MVP was not the first project that V-SCI worked on, but it was an early endeavor was propelled by a strong partnership with community advocates and has led to the creation of many additional projects.

We’re grateful that the Union of Concerned Scientists had given us this wider platform to share our work!
